These influencing factors boil down to one sentence: Men who are less "conformist" are more likely to have premarital sex. People can call this depravity, or it can be called unrestrained.

The higher the educational level of women, the lower the proportion of premarital sex

Let’s take a look at the situation of women, because in Chinese tradition, the so-called “chastity before marriage” is more targeted at women.

First of all, the most significant factor that plays a significant role in a woman's likelihood of having premarital sex is her age. For every year she grows older, the number of women who can still maintain "premarital chastity" decreases by 14%. This means that the so-called chastity before marriage is actually nothing more than an ignorant fear of sex and gender differences when girls first enter the world. As they grow older and gain more experience in sexual intercourse, women increasingly understand why they also need sex and gender. Therefore, before the age of 30, 77% of unmarried women have given up the so-called "premarital chastity" imposed on them by society.

Secondly, the second most significant factor is a woman’s education level. However, contrary to people's imagination and publicity in the mass media, the more educated a woman is, the less likely she is to have premarital sex. Compared with those women with primary school education and below, women with junior high school education are 7.6 times more likely to adhere to "chastity before marriage"; those with high school education are 10.6 times more likely; and those with college education or above are 15.6 times more likely. It can also be said conversely: the more educated a woman is, the less likely she is to have premarital sex.

The above situation is actually not surprising, and it is not mainly an issue of sexual morality, but the needs of women's life development. Women who go to junior high school or above are all trying to get more education to fight against today's society where it is becoming increasingly difficult for women to find employment and success. Therefore, they are not willing to make a small sacrifice due to premarital sex.

The most surprising thing is: Overweight and very heavy women are 70% less likely to remain virginal before marriage than women of normal weight and underweight. On the other hand, nearly 90% of very obese women have had premarital sex. However, this situation is probably not simply caused by obesity, but may be related to the special discrimination against "fat women" in today's society.

Finally, a significant influencing factor is whether a woman has friends of the opposite sex. If she does not even have ordinary male friends, then the possibility of adhering to "premarital chastity" will of course increase significantly.
