In order to welcome the 23rd World AIDS Day, an AIDS Day-themed publicity campaign in the capital’s universities with the theme of “Opposing Discrimination and Self-Protection” was launched yesterday. Six-year-old children have been hired as AIDS prevention ambassadors for the Beijing Red Cross Society.

Yesterday, the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Red Cross introduced the current status of AIDS prevention and treatment in Beijing. Relevant statistics show that since the first AIDS case was reported in the country in 1985, as of May this year, Beijing has reported a total of 7,672 HIV infections and patients, of which more than 70% are patients from other places.
