Women who have less sex before marriage are happier after marriage
Due to the openness of sexual concepts nowadays, both men and women think it is normal to have sex before marriage. Some even have sex with different people. Men always feel that the more women they sleep with, the more advantage they get, and women feel that sleeping with more women will be more advantageous. Going to bed with a man is just to satisfy physiological needs and is not a big deal. However, research has found that the more men a woman experiences, the less happy she becomes.
The latest research from the National Marriage Project in the United States shows that the number of women’s sexual partners before marriage affects their happiness after marriage. Among women who only have sex with their husbands, 53% are satisfied with their marriage; this figure drops to 42% among women who have had more than two sexual partners before marriage; only 42% of women who have had more than ten sexual partners before marriage are satisfied with their marriage. 22% are satisfied with their marriage. But for men, the number of premarital sexual partners does not appear to be significantly related to marital satisfaction.
This research was published in the article "Before 'I do': What impact do contemporary young people's premarital experiences have on marital quality?" at the University of Virginia. The study lasted for five years and tracked 1,294 unmarried men and women in a representative age range of 18 to 34 years old in the United States. During this period, a total of 418 people got married, but only 23% of the total had sex with their married spouse.
Having sex with multiple people before marriage may be risky if you want to pursue a high-quality marriage, researchers say. Past experience, especially in love, is associated with future marital quality. Those who have had more sexual partners may have difficulty being exclusive to their spouse because they are aware of the existence of "alternatives." The researchers also said that having multiple sexual relationships before marriage was also associated with multiple breakups. Excessive breakup experiences can create a bias toward love, which may also affect future relationships.
The study also found that weddings with more than 150 guests were associated with higher quality marriages. The researchers attribute this finding to public commitment and community support. A couple will be better able to navigate the occasional rough waters of marriage if they receive more support.
