The Zulu people are famous for their enthusiasm, boldness and fighting skills, as well as their ability to sing and dance. With the changes of the times, this ritual was lost. Nowadays, the retro trend of verifying virginity is once again because some people believe that women must have self-respect. The marriage tradition of the Zulu people is polygamy, and women's status is not given due attention, which makes some women have a weak concept of chastity. As a result, the number of unwed mothers has increased, and the phenomenon of children only knowing their mother but not their father has continued unabated.

Under the initiative of knowledgeable people, a small Zulu mountain village revived this ancient ritual five or six years ago, and received responses from surrounding villages. Coupled with the promotion of the news media, this trend quickly spread throughout the Zulu region, and verifying virginity became a Zulu fashion.
